Meant to be?

As most of you know and the rest should have figured out pretty fast - Sanna and I are cousins. We've always lived quite far away from each other, but at the same time had great connection when our families met up. Whether we were running around on a beach, visiting the northern part of Norway in terrible weather, hiking, fishing or staying up late in summer to watch Pacific Blue - being with Sanna was always entertaining and fun. I though it appropriate to give everyone a little flash of our previous adventures before we start our newest.. Enjoy!

And thats just the beginning.. There will be MANY more to come!

More preparation and excitement.. really.. a LOT of preparation!

Kids.. The entire fall that i've been planning and fantacising (yes i fantacise) about this trip i always promised myself that i wouldn't take too much stuff. Only the essentials! What other more experienced travellers and the guidebooks says we ought to bring. However, today when I was gathering all the essential equiptment that I've been told I must bring, I realised my backpack might be very heavy from the beginning.. I've taken a picture of some of the stuff thats listed on the different backlist that i've come across, and when i come back in six month, i call tell you what i actually really needed.. :)
Some things i realised quite early on that it might be unnecessary.. though i will miss them..

Sun lotion, aftersun and anti-bac. Not a shocker for anyone i'm sure.

The books i've decided to bring yet are: my Indian guidebook (kindly given to me by my older brother this christmas) my diary, (it's impressive how quickly I forget things) and my "First time around the world" book, given by my very own travelpartner-in-crime. (Note that it's the FIRST time aorund the world.)

For those who are blessed with perfect sight you might not understand what it means to have to bring six months supplies of actual vision.. I can tell you it's not cheap..

The medical kit- every book has long list of how to cure all the diarrhea that they promise we'll get- and painkillers and

Then it's the issue of choosing what i actually really need.. or which I want.

Now this, i regarded as essential, without any help from the guidebooks!

Around the map..

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=no&vps=1&jsv=310c&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=216123173207184954013.00049a89454f53c7b305d

(You have to press the button to go back a page to see the marked off places.. Beats me why!)

Here it is. Around the world, around the map - the outlines of our to be greatest adventure. The map shows the places we're landing/flying from. All our plane tickets have been ordered in advance through Kilroy, which means that at least we don't have to worry about money for our ticket back home! What we want to do and where we want to travel in each country is for the most part not set. We want to be free to get local tips, find new travel compangions and follow any sudden desire we might have! As we go we'll pinpoint the places we visit on the map so it will be easier to follow!

HELLO WORLD, in a week and a day ;)

Preparation and excitement!

This weekend Anita and I, Åslaug, went to Bergen to visit Ragni, Sanna's sister. I intend to study there next year and wanted a look around. As suspected, it was rather rainy but I suppose anything else would have given false expectations! Among sightseeing and city wandering I also bought the computer that we're bringing around the world to keep you (and ourselves) updated!

This is from the top of "Fløibanen", with what would have been the veiw of Bergen city on a clear day.. From left: Åslaug, Anita and Ragni.

This is our new computer, just 10 inches. Adorable! I thought it was quite appropriate that the opening picture was a fantastic beach, soon to be replaced with a similar photo we've taken ourselves ;)

The next two weeks will be filled with research, packing and a bunch of excitment. These are the books I'm going through at the moment. The more I read the more I look forward to seing it with my own eyes!
